About

Why I Make Memorial Ash Jewelry

First of all, if you are here for a memorial piece, I'm so sorry for your loss.  I understand how hard it is to lose someone close to you whether they are a person or a pet.  Your connection to your pet can be just as strong as to a human because they provide us with unconditional love.

You’re never really ready for the passing of someone close to you, even if they have been ill for a long time.  It still leaves a hole in your life where they used to be.

Grief takes its own time to gradually lessen, but it comes in waves and never really goes away completely.  Grieving is different for everyone, so never feel bad that you aren't "getting over it" as fast as others might think you should.

The sudden passing of my “heart” cat, Little Boy (pictured above), was devastating.  Going through that grief inspired me to make memorial cremation ash jewelry to help ease the pain of losing a loved one by maintaining that special connection.
When a pet passes, we feel an added sense of responsibility since they can't speak for themselves.  We get caught in a cycle of questioning ourselves about what we could have done differently or what we could have noticed sooner.  We second guess whether we did the right thing at the right time to ease their suffering, especially if we had to make that difficult final choice.
No matter the details of the end of their lives, ultimately they knew they were loved by us for whatever length of time they were in our lives and that is the most important thing to remember, as difficult as it can be sometimes.

Creating Glass Cremation Jewelry

It's my privilege to use my decade of experience with fused glass and metal clay to create high quality custom silver and glass jewelry pieces that commemorate and maintain your special bond.

I can include your loved one’s cremation ashes within the custom made fused glass to keep them close to you.  I like using glass because it doesn't fade or turn yellow the way that resin can.  You don't have to worry about wearing your jewelry in the sun or getting it wet like you do with resin jewelry.  Glass is made to last and I take that into account with the pieces I make since I intend them to last a lifetime.

The ashes will appear like a white powder in the glass (see photo below). Small bubbles often occur when ashes are included in glass, and I think it adds to the uniqueness of the piece.  If ashes aren’t available, the glass can include glow-in-the-dark powder instead that gives a faint glow in remembrance of your loved one.

Made with Love and Compassion

Many items can also be personalized to include your loved one’s name or initials.  Each piece is made individually with respect and care.  Stories and photos of your loved one are welcomed.  The spirit and personality of your loved one is invited to be a part of creating the piece and maintaining your special connection.

Creative Process

I've been creating jewelry with fused glass and silver metal clay for over a decade.  I love how interesting and versatile the creative process can be when combining these two materials and figuring out how to get the desired results with new or custom designs.

Silver metal clay lets me create some things beyond the reach of traditional metalsmithing.  Combined with the custom colors I can create with fused glass, each jewelry piece is truly unique and one of a kind.

It would be my honor to create a special memorial for you based on the designs I have listed or a custom idea you have.  Sending you light and love.
